Devotion to the Lord (1 Corinthians 7:20-28)

Theme: Devotion to God is the most important thing life.

Memory Verse: 1 Corinthians 7:19b

  • Read 1 Corinthians 7:20-28 together.
  • How hard would it be to remain a slave if you were a slave? Paul says don’t worry about it. How hard would that be?
  • Why does Paul tell the slave here to be free if they could?
  • Paul warns us not to be a slave to the world.
  • Paul is going through multiple circumstances people can find themselves in. He reminds them all that no matter what, the most important thing is to be wholly devoted to God. How do you see this demonstrated in the scenarios he gives?
  • How can we apply this principle in other circumstances that are similar but not covered specifically here?
  • In the service it was stated that God does whatever he wants. Is this hard to accept?
  • In the story of Job, the magnificence of Job’s worship is because it was in grief, not because it replaced grief. Do you agree?
  • Read Psalm 63:1-8 together. Can you truly say this? Can you say that your relationship with God is the best thing you have in life?
  • Spend some time in prayer together before dismissing.
