Jessie Banks
Pastor

Jessie became a believer in October 2009, having spent all his life as a “church kid.” He served Shiloh Baptist Church in Somerville for six years as children’s pastor and youth pastor. He met his wife, Jessica, at Shiloh, and they married in November 2014. They welcomed their first child, Millie Lou, on March 31, 2020. Jessie is nearing the end of his studies at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and looks forward to graduating with a Master of Divinity Degree. He loves local church ministry, personal evangelism, and disciple making. His hopes for Hobbs Island Church include seeing things happen in our church family that can only be explained by the Spirit of God working through the Word of God.
The Banks family has lived in South Huntsville since 2017. Jessie does academic advising full time at Calhoun Community College, and Jessica teaches second grade at Goldsmith-Schiffman Elementary School.
Jessie has too many hobbies to list here, most of which he hopes to take back up in some way after finishing seminary. Right now he is caught up in being Millie’s daddy and Jessica’s best friend.

Karon Howard
Children’s Director

Karon and her husband Jared have been married since 2005. They have 4 wonderful children: Aiden, Ethan, Jamison, and Annie. Karon has a passion for training children to follow God.  Throughout her life, the church has been instrumental in her spiritual development. As a child, she learned about Christ through children’s and bus ministries offered by the church. The dedication of the children’s and youth workers resulted in Karon receiving Christ as her Savior. As a result, she is inspired to love children and to teach children about Christ. She desires to encourage and teach parents how to train their children in Christ.
