What We Believe
In necessariis unitas, in dubiis libertas, in omnibus caritas
Unity in the essentials, liberty in the non-essentials, in all things love.
This post-Reformation phrase speaks to our unity as Christians. We believe what unifies us is Jesus Christ and as such we are to be of the same mind in the essentials of the Christian faith, demonstrate liberty in the things that are not essential, and in all discussions and actions we are to show love.
We hold to the written confessions of the Baptist Faith and Message (2000) and the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy (1978)Those beliefs are summarized below:
  • We believe the entire Bible is inspired by God, is without error, and is the authority on which our faith, beliefs, conduct, and teachings are based.
  • We believe in one and only one living and true God who exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe that mankind is a special creation of God having been made in His image. Mankind is eternally separated from God by his free choice to sin against God.
  • We believe that Jesus is the perfect, blameless son of God, the prophesied Messiah, who came unto the world in order to provide salvation for man’s sins. Jesus died on the cross and shed His blood as the sacrifice for our sins so that we may be forgiven.
  • We believe that Jesus rose from the dead on the third day after his crucifixion and ascended into heaven to make intercession for us until He returns.
  • We believe that salvation is only found by placing faith in Jesus as Savior, repenting of our sins, and turning to follow Jesus as Lord of our lives.
  • We believe that baptism is a symbolic expression of the cleansing power of the blood of Jesus Christ and a testimony to our faith in Him.
  • We believe that every believer should be in an active, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, yielding to the will of the Holy Spirit, and continuously being conformed into the image of Christ.
  • We believe in the command from Christ to go and make disciples of all nations. We believe this is best done in community as we walk through life together, serving one another. We believe in being active in local and international missions and are committed to take the Good News of Jesus to every person and every nation.
